Come discover the issues, tools, and best practices used by journalists from Fake off and the Académie citoyenne to fight misinformation at the Gaîté Lyrique!

Fake news is funny on April 1; the rest of the year, it’s dangerous. In 2025, in France, 665 false claims about climate were relayed in audiovisual media according to the Observatoire des médias sur l'écologie. 89% of French people struggle with fake news, according to a Groupe Ifop study for Cision. And among young people, it’s a complete disaster. On social media, when a Nobel Prize winner or a GIEC scientist speaks, nobody listens. When an influencer says that global warming is a manipulation, millions of people watch. The result is something Fake Off Asso sees in classrooms: truth, falsehood, facts, opinions... everything ends up seeming equal. This Tuesday, June 9, we invite you to become a pro at spotting false good or bad news, learning how to tell truth from fiction, and discovering the tools that will help you avoid falling into the trap. After a presentation of the issues, tools, and best practices, journalists from Fake off and the Académie citoyenne will invite you live to spot misinformation, analyze it, deconstruct it, and do so around our three favorite topics: climate, social justice, and feminism. Come along; you’ll have plenty to tell your friends this summer. _____________________________________________________ The journalists’ association Fake Off has been running media education and anti-disinformation workshops throughout France since 2015. L’Académie Citoyenne is an accessible, non-partisan civic education program that helps everyone build solid reference points on the major issues in public debate.
