MAN OF MOON (10:00 p.m.) (Alt rock - Cosmic Pool - Glasgow, UK) Man of Moon is a Scottish duo forging a bold sound at the crossroads of psychedelic rock, krautrock, electronic music, and post-punk textures. Founded in Édimbourg in 2014 at Jewel and Esk College, the project emerged from late-night jam sessions between Chris Bainbridge (guitar/vocals) and his drummer at the time, before quickly evolving into something bigger. Chris said the name came to him in memory of his father: they had many conversations about space and the moon, and that imagery continues to resonate throughout their lyrics and the atmosphere of their music. Over the years, the duo relocated to Glasgow and welcomed a new drummer, Iain Stewart, while continuing to expand their sonic palette into ethereal, hypnotic territory. Since their beginnings, Man of Moon have established themselves as an extraordinary live band. The duo have an exceptional talent for bringing genres and styles together, yet their sound is not a hybrid: it is instead a synthesis of their influences, a pure sonic distillation of what came before. You can hear Mogwai’s hypnotic drones, Radiohead’s dynamic shifts, Tool’s harmonic angularity, Nine Inch Nails’ industrial fusion, and even touches of Pink Floyd’s stark, abstract lyricism. Man of Moon are so much music in a single band. And yet, they have always had a sound of their own; every song is crafted with a profound sense of purpose.
