How the city is going green in the heart of public space
August 10, 10:00 AM La place du Colonel Fabien becomes an urban forest A new urban forest has taken root in Paris, following the one at the Hôtel de Ville, the one at place de Catalogne (14th arrondissement), and the creation of bois de Charonne (20th arrondissement). More than 1,760 m2 of green spaces have been created at place du Colonel-Fabien (10th and 19th arrondissements), including over 1,400 m2 of forest and 74 new trees. This transformation now allows for a better sharing of public space between modes of transport: walking (nearly 1,000 m2 of pedestrian areas), cycling (with more than 400 m2 of bike lanes), cars, and public transport. The square is becoming a milestone along a green, shaded promenade, forming a link in the ecological network between canal Saint-Martin and parc des Buttes Chaumont, which encourages the movement of wildlife.
