A tribute to the great woman of letters and passionate advocate of freedom, marking the 150th anniversary of her death
A towering figure in French literature, George Sand left her mark on her era through the power of her work, her independence, and her activism. She challenged the conventions of her time in the name of freedom and equality, championing her republican, feminist, and humanist beliefs. She continues to inspire us to this day. This literary talk takes us on a chronological journey through selected moments—among so many others—that bear witness to her extraordinary life. The presentation is interspersed with passages from The Story of My Life and her correspondence, along with short excerpts from Indiana, Lélia, and She and He.
