A discussion with the collective "La Traverse du 10e" about supervised drug consumption facilities, as part of the Rencontres interculturelles du 10e
Exactly 10 years ago, the Halte Soins Addictions opened in the 10ème arrondissement. The only Halte Soins facility in Ile de France, the Jean-Pierre Lhomme space provides a safe environment where people who use drugs and are experiencing extreme hardship can consume substances and access healthcare and social support services. The collective La Traverse du 10e was formed in December 2024 to campaign for this facility, which has been operating as a pilot program for 10 years, to become permanent. Its members include parents of schoolchildren, health and social care organizations, the Collectif Rue d'Alsace (residents and shopkeepers), Action Barbès (a residents' association for the Barbès intersection), Ensemble nous sommes le 10e, and representatives of people who use the facility. Over the past year and a half, La Traverse du 10e has organized conferences, discussions, and walking events accompanied by brass bands, and has responded to every request it has received—from journalists (particularly during election periods), researchers, public authorities, the Minister of Health, and others. The association Gaïa, which manages the facility, and representatives of La Traverse will be there to present their work and discuss it with you. This event is part of the 31st season of the Rencontres interculturelles organized by Ensemble nous sommes le 10e, which this year will explore the theme "Creating Brighter Days."
