From June 30 to August 2, we’ll be living on the terrace at the Gaîté Lyrique! DJ sets, workshops, explorations of the living world, dance workshops, a bar and delicious food, … We’ll settle in on the terrace and let things unfold.
It feels like vacation is in the air, doesn’t it? Here’s the full program! In July, you don’t need to leave Paris to feel the vacation season approaching: just follow the birdsong from square Émile Chautemps to the terrace of the Gaîté Lyrique and let things unfold. The sun beats down gently, while the trees filter the light. Nearby, everyone is busy. People hurry from the terrace to the square and from the square back to the terrace, their hands full of leaves and branches to use in the screen-printing poster workshop. In the shade of the trees, the air is warm, the fountain water acts like a cooling mist, summer is in full swing, and that first sip of a cold drink finally arrives. Your poster dries in the sun. Next time, you might try perreo or drag bingo. Then golden hour arrives. With your sunglasses still perched on your nose, the golden sunlight dazzles you, and the music takes over. The DJs settle in, and so does the evening. Everyone is there outside the Gaîté: teenagers, local residents, regulars, curious passersby, even tourists tired from wandering the streets of Sentier. The terrace fills up, hesitant conversations gradually begin to mingle, and everyone gets to their feet. Chairs that are in the way slide aside, immediately claimed by hands already laden with nachos dripping with cheddar. Soon, all you can make out are dancing silhouettes. The moon appears without warning. You come for “just five minutes” and end up staying all evening. Gaîté l’été feels a little like this: the sun on your skin, a drink in your hand, your fingers tapping out the beat almost without thinking. Like a bossa nova lingering in the air. And then you tell yourself: “I’ll come back tomorrow.” Program Every Thursday in July Rinse On Air: DJ sets Rinse takes over the terrace of the Gaîté Lyrique to check the temperature of the global dance floor, bringing together today’s finest electronic music talent.
