As part of the 2026 Automne de la science, come and visit “La Caverne,” an amazing urban farm located in a former parking garage in Paris’s 18th arrondissement.
A winner of the Parisculteurs call for projects launched by the Ville de Paris, this urban farm is the first in the capital to be established underground. Cycloponics created La Caverne in the 3,500 m² Raymond Queneau parking garage (18th arrondissement), owned by a social housing provider. The idea is to “provide city dwellers with high-quality local produce.” No fertilizers, pesticides, or GMOs… some of its products even have AB (organic farming) certification. In this new kind of “cave,” these small-scale producers take advantage of the dark, underground environment to revive an activity that disappeared from the capital long ago, now renamed “cave farming.” This is a rare opportunity to visit an unusual site—limited to 25 people.
