Contemporary dance and theater come together to explore the movements of the intimate and those of History. An evening shaped by breaks, impulses, and revolutions, whether sweeping or subtle.
Part one (choreography): Ôdalavie, Company: Human Ôdalavie is a contemporary dance duet about parenthood and couplehood. Two bodies exhausted, loving, at the end of their rope. Love holds on, wavers, strikes. Fatigue builds, violence emerges, desire transforms. In the friction of bodies, dance becomes a place to survive, to lose oneself, to find oneself again. Part two (theater): Révolution(s), Company: Les Embouti.es What goes through the mind of someone who enters into revolution? What does “entering into revolution” mean for ordinary people, witnesses to and participants in the upheavals of History? What are we prepared to lose or risk, of ourselves or others, of our values or our lives, when History is hurled against us? Our multifaceted show asks these questions by staging the French Revolution as seen from below, by those who live through it.
