The Bel Air neighborhood belonged to the commune of Saint-Mandé until 1860. It was annexed to Paris under Napoléon III. Its appearance changed quickly with the emergence of small housing developments and Haussmannian buildings. This still little-known neighborhood offers a historical and architectural journey through an eclectic mix of styles, from houses of the former faubourgs to Haussmannian buildings, traces of old artisan workshops, and Art nouveau followed by Art déco buildings. This guided tour is offered by the Comité d'histoire de la Ville de Paris. A dedicated digital route, highlighting the history and heritage of this neighborhood in the 12th arrondissement, was created by the Département de l'histoire, de la mémoire et des musées associatifs (Direction des affaires culturelles) as part of the Ville de Paris participatory budget.
