Paris's 12th arrondissement was created in 1860 when Napoleon III decided to annex part of the neighboring communes of Bercy and St Mandé into Paris. The Vallée de Fécamp then followed the course of the ruisseau de Montreuil. Today, this vast neighborhood offers a journey through history and heritage, from the gigantic Saint-Esprit church to Art nouveau apartment buildings, as well as low-cost housing (HBM) and the remains of former factories. This guided tour is offered by the Comité d'histoire de la Ville de Paris. A dedicated digital route, highlighting the history and heritage of this neighborhood in the 12th arrondissement, was created by the Département de l'histoire, de la mémoire et des musées associatifs (Direction des affaires culturelles) as part of the Ville de Paris participatory budget.
