Tony Tixier is a Franco-American pianist and composer who trained in classical piano before turning to jazz and improvisation, developing a musical identity that blends composition and improvisation. From a very young age, he performed on major stages alongside artists such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Marcus Miller and McCoy Tyner, before moving to New York and becoming a lasting presence on the international jazz scene. In 2012, he released Dream Pursuit with his American quartet, earning critical acclaim and being named “Revelation” by Jazz Magazine. Beyond jazz, he has collaborated with Andrea Bocelli, Jon Batiste, Usher, Juliette Armanet and DJ Deep, and has served as a pianist on America’s Got Talent and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He has performed at iconic venues and festivals such as Blue Note NYC, Jazz in Marciac and the Apollo Theater, and has composed with his brother Scott for Janet Cardiff at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Tony Tixier creates contemporary, expressive and accessible music at the intersection of jazz, pop and international popular music.
