Contemporary jazz — Gautier Garrigue, a talented drummer and composer, brings together exceptional musicians for an evening of musical reunion and daring improvisation.
The carte blanche evenings at 38Riv have become a reunion ritual for these four musicians, all of whom are bandleaders, composers and sidemen in various ensembles. Tonight, they share a repertoire exploring their respective musical worlds, united by an affinity for finely crafted melodies and the unexpected moments that arise when they come together onstage. Gautier Garrigue is a drummer, guitarist and composer born in 1987 and originally from the south of France. After graduating from the Conservatoire in 2002, he quickly made a name for himself on the jazz scene by collaborating with prestigious artists such as Henri Texier, Michel Portal, Seamus Blake, Christian Scott, Emile Parisien, Baptiste Trotignon, Kyle Eastwood and Enrico Pieranunzi. He is co-leader of Flash Pig, winner of the Académie du Jazz’s 2024 Record of the Year award. His first album under his own name, La Traversée, released in autumn 2024, received unanimous critical acclaim. Described by Jazz Mag as one of the most sensitive and subtle drummers on today’s scene, he was a finalist in the “Revelation of the Year” category at the Victoires du Jazz in 2025 and, the following year, won the Académie du Jazz’s prestigious Prix Django Reinhardt, which honors the year’s best musician.
