Eliz Corbett has two loves — Jazz and Paris.
Ever since she caught the jazz bug during her college years near New York, where she spent time with Kenny Barron’s students, Eliz has been completely hooked. But it was in Paris, her adopted city, that she truly learned to sing and improvise over the famous jazz chord changes. As an American, she sees 'jazz standards' as timeless, lyric-driven songs written by the virtuosos of Broadway’s golden age. She therefore performs them with as much respect for the original compositions & the poetry of the lyrics as freedom of personal expression. With her warm vocal tone and generous stage presence, Eliz and her band create a joyful, comforting haven of humanity. Eliz & her New York Swing have taken this opportunity to invite a prestigious soloist: trumpeter and composer Jean Gobinet, with whom Eliz has sung in a big band. Seasoned musicians Vinh Lê on piano and Michel Rosciglione on double bass form a rhythm section that is as powerful as it is tightly knit.
