Richard Sears is an American pianist and composer based in Paris. Sears has performed with the Billy Hart Quartet (ft. Mark Turner and Ben Street), the Muhal Richard Abrams Orchestra, Ravi Coltrane, Ralph Alessi, Eric Revis, Andrew Cyrille, Joshua Redman, and other jazz artists. In 2021, Sears left Brooklyn for Paris, where he was a composer-in-residence at the Cité internationale des arts. Sears is currently a fellow of the American Composers Forum and a resident at the POUSH art center in Paris, France. "We discovered Richard Sears at a concert by his sextet in a Brooklyn club, with John Coltrane's son Ravi appearing as a guest saxophonist, and he has had our full attention ever since.
