A conversation with Nina Yargekov, a writer exploring play and duality, between the Seine and the Danube
Nina Yargekov, born in 1980, is a Franco-Hungarian novelist. Her first novel, Tuer Catherine, was published by P.O.L in 2009. Many other works followed before Double nationalité became a success in 2016. In this novel, which won the Prix du Flore and was conceived as a literary rebus, the narrator finds herself in an airport, the terra incognita of a young woman caught between two destinations. In 2026, Nina Yargekov published Budapest (éditions l’Arbre qui marche), a gamebook devoted to the Hungarian capital—an unconventional travel guide that reads like a page-turning novel. For the past decade or so, she has also been working on a rather ambitious literary project (at least for her), which both thrills and terrifies her. She also trained as a sociologist, works as a translator and interpreter, and occasionally teaches at university. The talk will be moderated by Nils C. Ahl, a journalist and contributor to Le Monde des livres.
