Franco-Colombian musician Ëda Diaz invites audiences to discover (ËDA)MAME, a project currently taking root. The aim: to produce a new album while creating a space for experimentation and connection through music, with the bean as its central theme.
Magdalena – River of Dreams (A Story of Colombia) , a sweeping, wide-ranging account by Canadian ethnobotanist Wade Davis, is the primary inspiration for (ËDA)MAME . This unconventional project is also nurtured by the dialogue between Ëda Diaz and Xandra Uribe, keeper of a "frijolatorio" (a laboratory dedicated to beans), whose harvests are used to make jewelry. Forging a distinctive path between electronic music, modern pop, and Afro-Colombian sounds, the musician uses the bean ("frijol") as a poetic lens through which to create the compositions for her new album, structured around vocals and double bass – her two instruments of choice. She also uses it as a conceptual lens to explore interconnected themes: diaspora, (agri)culture, transmission, adaptation…
Admission: End-of-residency showcase. An open public rehearsal offering an opportunity to discover works in progress by artists in residence and meet them.
