Photography Workshop: Introduction to the black-and-white darkroom. The aim is to provide an introduction to film photography, from developing film through to making prints.
Day 1: Developing films and producing the first contact sheets. Analyzing the images on the contact sheets to make an initial selection of photographs to print. After an introduction to working in a black-and-white darkroom, the different enlargers, and print masking techniques, we will enter the darkroom and make prints until the end of the session. Day 2: You will spend the entire day working in the darkroom. Masking techniques, the use of dodging tools, exposure times, and contrast filters will hold no more secrets for you! Each participant will choose one image from their negatives to make a 24 x 30 cm print. At the end of the session, while the final images are drying, we will discuss image post-processing and review the workshop's work to share the experiences and challenges involved in making each print. Participants will leave with their work. Prerequisite: you must have an already exposed roll of black-and-white film to develop, from which we will make darkroom prints. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some basic experience. Please bring: an apron and an already exposed roll of black-and-white film to develop in the darkroom (please note: you will not be able to develop films requiring C41 chemical processing).
