On September 3, 2026, Utopia Bookstore will host an event about the book Evidence Through Images? Film Investigations, Judicial Uses and Aesthetic Issues, with Aurélie Ledoux and Ophir Levy.
With the spread of digital technologies, what role does visual recording now play as evidence? The book begins with the observation that, since the digital shift, photographs and videos have entered a wide range of fields. Besides being highly prevalent on social media, they are now increasingly used in journalism and even in legal proceedings. This raises several questions: to what extent do these images constitute evidence? How are they used aesthetically? What impact does artificial intelligence have on the use of images? Aurélie Ledoux and Ophir Levy, two of the book’s editors, will attend the event.
