Created by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with support from the City of Paris, part of the exhibition “Witnesses to Climate Realities: Migration as Adaptation” will be presented at Bibliothèque Arthur Rimbaud from September 29 to October 31.
Through a selection of photographs from its collection, IOM offers perspectives from different regions around the world. These images document the challenges people face amid environmental upheaval and highlight migration as an adaptation strategy. From droughts and floods in East Africa to hurricanes in the Caribbean, the photographs portray regions exposed to extreme climate shocks. They also capture more gradual phenomena, such as coastal erosion in Bangladesh and particularly harsh winters in Mongolia, which have a lasting impact on living conditions and livelihoods. By depicting daily life marked by insecurity, food shortages, and environmental degradation, these photographs also demonstrate communities’ capacity to adapt to such upheaval. Visit Bibliothèque Arthur Rimbaud from September 29 to October 31 to discover this exhibition. Free admission during library opening hours. Open to all.
