Depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, recovery… comics shed light on these realities, which affect nearly one in five people in France. A different way to explore mental health and encourage a deep, unconventional dialogue about mental health conditions. To challenge misconceptions by helping to destigmatize mental illness and encouraging a different perspective on psychological distress. To discuss mental health accurately, sensitively and sometimes even humorously. Because sometimes, an image or a story can help us better understand what we are going through, what someone else is experiencing, or simply start a conversation…

As part of the 37th edition of the Semaines d'Information sur la Santé Mentale, taking place from October 5 to 18, 2026, on the theme “Pour notre santé mentale, ouvrons-nous aux arts,” featuring: Lisa Mandel, author of Se rétablir, a chronicle of recovery in mental health published by Éditions Exemplaire, which she founded, and HP, published by Éditions L'Association. Lucie Morel, a French artist and PhD candidate at VU Amsterdam. Her work lies at the intersection of artistic creation and research. She is the author of the autobiographical comic Toc Toc, published by Éditions Même pas mal (2025), in which she recounts her experience with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Through this book, she shows how drawing can make visible realities that are often difficult to express, invisible or stigmatized. The discussion will be moderated by Eva Mazur, a peer mental health support worker in psychiatry, trainer and mental health consultant. Her work focuses on promoting recovery and peer support, and recognizing lived experience as a means of transforming mental health practices. She is the co-author of Aider – Les clefs pour apprendre à observer, écouter et accompagner (Michel Lafon, 2023). The discussion will be followed by the opening of the exhibition Les Piailleries : Hypersensible-Hyperpouvoir, created by La Maison Perchée and presented at bibliothèque Robert Sabatier from October 6 to 18. Online registration opens on August 31.
