The Ateliers de Paris gallery presents the exhibition “Multiples, Rethinking Objects in Series,” bringing together some fifteen designers to explore the design and production of objects in series.
Born in the wake of the Industrial Revolution, mass production long held the promise of standardized, affordable manufacturing. Faced with the environmental, economic, and social challenges of our time, the proliferation of objects around us raises questions about our ability to cope with future instability. The Multiples exhibition gives the floor to some fifteen designers seeking to rethink their relationship with series production. Repurposing craftsmanship, collaborating with design publishers, adapting industrial processes, self-production, differentiated series: the projects on display experiment with new models to forge more thoughtful connections with environments, practices, and resources. Drawing on the visual language of workspaces and mass production, the exhibition design unfolds throughout the gallery in the form of an assembly line. The works are shown in dialogue with production materials displayed on the walls, complemented by strip curtains that extend the industrial theme.
