This tour delves into the complex history of the cité de la Muette. Designed as a modern garden city for working-class residents, it embodied the urban utopias of the 20th century. Influenced by the ideas of the Congrès internationaux d’architecture moderne (CIAM), architects Eugène Beaudouin and Marcel Lods introduced major construction innovations. But under the Occupation, the estate’s fate took a dramatic turn: conceived as a place of social emancipation, it became an internment camp. This tour traces the evolution of the site and its tragic fate during the Second World War.
