À propos

Evelyn Askolovitch was born Sulzbach in 1938 in the Netherlands, into a German Jewish family.

Evelyn and her parents were arrested in 1943 after being reported by their neighbors. The family was initially detained in a theater in Amsterdam, “a little like Drancy: it was a theater that all the Jews passed through before being transported to the camps.” She was freed from the Bergen-Belsen camp by the Red Cross in January 1945 as part of a prisoner exchange. In 2023, aware that she belonged to the very last generation of witnesses, she co-wrote Se souvenir ensemble (Éditions Grasset) with her son, Claude Askolovitch. Book
