Esther Hoffenberg’s filmography is woven from portraits of women. A Century of Love and Shame traces the history of her maternal family, the Lamprechts, intertwined with the fate of Silesia, a border region that was repeatedly contested by Germany, Poland and Russia throughout the 20th century.
