The MAIF Social Club is turning 10 and is taking advantage of the Traversées du Marais festival to celebrate in style, surrounded by a few friends. On the program: the return of the Corps public collective to work together on building a new Cabin that will welcome storytellers, musicians, actors, and drag queens from the Les Paillettes collective.
Come alone, with family, or with friends to build a shared house inspired by the vision of American philosopher Henry David Thoreau—a house that serves as a shelter, open to everyone, with no interior doors, partitions, or cupboards, where everything is visible and accessible, and arranged organically according to its occupants. The rules of the game? Look at what is already being done / imagine what else could be done / build without thinking / draw up plans / ignore advice / copy / fail joyfully / start again / connect your finished structure to an existing one / begin your structure from an existing element / enjoy yourself / forget everything / live in the house / invite friends / pass on your knowledge / unlearn / come back… An imaginary, temporary house takes shape over the course of several days, offering an opportunity to reflect on how we can inhabit the world in a more human and collective way. SHELTER is part of Cabanes—a global project by the Corps Public / Ramona Poenaru & Collaborations collective, which aims to offer the public new ways to engage in dialogue and collaborate. Program: At the heart of the construction site that is SHELTER, while you build the cabin, you can listen to performed readings by actors from the Jeune Théâtre National, marvel (and laugh) at the Les Paillettes drag-queen collective, fire up your imagination with stories for children and adults by Florence Desnouveaux and Violaine Robert, dream to the sound of Clara Germont’s cello, read a book from our library, enjoy pastries from Sain Boulangerie, or share our birthday cake. An opportunity to celebrate how far we have come together and reconnect with the contributors who have brought the venue to life over the past 10 years! - Friday, September 4:– SHELTER – a cabin for a birthday – construction from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.: Drag show with Les Paillettes - Saturday, September 5:– SHELTER – a cabin for a birthday – construction from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 a.m.: performance by cellist Clara Germont – 6:00 p.m.: storytelling by Florence Desnouveaux and Violaine Robert - Sunday, September 6:– SHELTER – a cabin for a birthday – construction from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.: performed readings by actors from the Jeune Théâtre National – 4:00 p.m.: birthday cake by SAIN Boulangerie – 5:00 p.m.: closing performance of SHELTER with Xavier Fassion (drum solo) This program is presented as part of the Traversées du Marais festival organized by the Marais Culture + network, whose 2026 edition explores the concept of dialogue.
