In PARIS AU MOIS D’AOÛT (1966), Pierre Granier-Deferre captures this suspended moment through the unexpected encounter between a lonely man and a young Englishwoman passing through. Starring Charles Aznavour and Susan Hampshire, this classic of French cinema portrays a vanished Paris, caught between melancholy, freedom, and the desire to start over. Restored by Pathé in 2019, the film can now be enjoyed in all its brilliance on the big screen.
