To mark the launch of Jeune et ambitieux (published by Tumulte), Lafayette Anticipations is hosting a unique reading of the new novel by Mehdi Meklat and Badroudine Said Abdallah.
Performed by five actors, the text comes to life through a polyphonic reading that gives voice to Zahir, the main character, as well as his inner conflicts and aspirations. Across four pivotal moments in his life, between Alger, Marseille, Paris and Los Angeles, Zahir pursues a boundless ambition: to become somebody. In a world where money, fame and social media are reshaping power dynamics, his coming-of-age journey questions both the promise of upward social mobility and the sacrifices it demands. Conceived as both a collective and musical experience, this reading brings the full power of Mehdi Meklat and Badroudine Said Abdallah's writing to life, giving voice to the many questions woven throughout the novel.
