This guided tour is being organized as part of the Ciné-Jardins 2026 festival to introduce Parisians to the biodiversity on their doorstep and encourage them to reconnect with other animal and plant species.
In the north of the 18e arrondissement, Jardin des Traverses stretches for 1 km along the former Petite Ceinture railway line between porte de Clignancourt and rue des Poissonniers. Opened to the public in 2024, the area was transformed into a green walkway and edible garden by the urban agriculture association Vergers urbains and the Green Resistance collective: the old railway track was converted into a light-use pathway by the Ville de Paris, greenhouses were installed, a community bar was built, and planters were placed along the green corridor. Jardin des Traverses joins the capital’s more than 220 agricultural sites: Paris has nearly 37 hectares of agricultural spaces across rooftops, ground-level sites, and underground areas. Guided tour led by Germain Lainard, landscape designer. The evening’s program: 6 p.m.: Guided tour of Jardin des Traverses (Petite Ceinture). Meet under the bridge on rue des Poissonniers. 7:30 p.m.: Shared buffet (organic-leaning, vegetarian, zero-waste): Bring what you can and eat what you like! Food and drinks will also be available for purchase on site. 8:30 p.m.: Film screenings: 1/ Three short films produced in partnership with EGDO, Jardin des Traverses and Grajar 2/ Rebellion / Maia Kenworthy and Elena Sánchez Bellot / 2021 / 1h22
