BARBOTEUR’S BEAUX DIMANCHES As summer arrives, Barboteur is settling into its Sunday home in Pantin. Every Sunday, Barboteur welcomes you to its terrace for concerts, a chill-out area with food & drinks, and a games space, all in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. For this ninth edition of Le Beau Dimanche, Barboteur welcomes Sahel Ménilmontant.
Beautiful Sundays are best spent by the water. The story of Sahel Ménilmontant is one of an encounter: a meeting between the exhilarating rhythms of traditional Senegalese music and the contemporary sounds of Western instruments. The group grew out of encounters in Paris’s 20th arrondissement, first between two guitarists, Souleymane Thiello and Frédéric Cloux—one Senegalese and one French—and later with Brazilian musician Appolo Armonia and Argentinian musician Andres Izurieta. Since forming in 2013, Les Sahel have performed at numerous Parisian festivals every year, as well as festivals across Europe, particularly in Belgique and Hollande. Their repertoire brings together the cosmopolitan Paris of Ménilmontant and the cultural richness of the Sahel belt. Their music is rooted in Afro-groove and world music, blending influences from the Sahel, Europe and Amérique du Sud. To keep the party going, DJ La Bise will take over with a warm and groovy DJ set played entirely on vinyl. Behind the decks, she crafts an eclectic musical journey in which danceable rhythms, rare gems and sun-drenched grooves flow seamlessly into one another.
