As part of the commemorations marking the 82nd anniversary of the Liberation of Paris on August 25, 1944, attend all the ceremonies beginning August 23, 2026.
The ceremonies commemorating the Liberation of Paris are open to the public and can be viewed from outside the invitation-only areas. Sunday, August 23 - 4 p.m.: Ceremony at the Cascade du Bois de Boulogne in memory of the 35 young Resistance martyrs massacred by the occupying forces on the night of August 16–17, 1944. Monday, August 24 - 5:30 p.m.: Ceremony honoring the Spanish Republicans of the Colonne Dronne (Jardin des Combattants de la Nueve). Tuesday, August 25 - 10 a.m.: Ceremony at Place Stalingrad in front of the Libération-Victoire tree; - 10:30 a.m.: Ceremony in front of the plaque commemorating the deportees' departure (gare de l’Est); - 11 a.m.: Unveiling of the plaque in memory of the Resistance fighters of FTP Compagnie Saint-Just (10 avenue de Laumière); - 2:30 p.m.: Ceremony in front of the plaque commemorating the surrender of German troops in Paris (Place du 18 juin 1940); - 3:30 p.m.: Military ceremony honoring the 2e D.B. in front of the statue of Maréchal Leclerc, Porte d'Orléans; - 5:30 p.m.: Place de l’Hôtel de Ville-Esplanade de la Libération, military ceremony and historical reenactment; - 9 p.m.: Screening of the film Diplomatie by Volker Schlöndorff, starring André Dussolier and Niels Arestrup, at Place de l’Hôtel de Ville-Esplanade de la Libération.
