A tribute to circus artist Olga Brown, known as Miss Lala

In 1879, Edgar Degas painted a work entitled Miss Lala at the Cirque Fernando. It depicts an aerial artist suspended by her jaw high above the metal structure of this permanent circus venue. At the time, Cirque Fernando was a major hub of the Parisian circus scene. Who was Miss Lala? Cie Le Fil de soie has embarked on a documentary circus project highlighting the work of women circus artists. At this stage of the project, the company will share an excerpt from the short-form puppet performance currently in development, a musical interlude featuring a barrel organ, and a presentation about Olga Brown, known as Miss Lala. Tabletop puppetry, barrel organ, lecture: 30 minutes, followed by a discussion with the audience about the creative process. Concept, Artistic Direction, Performer: Ingrid de Reinach. Open to everyone aged 8 and over. Registration with the librarians is required. This event is part of the 11th edition of the "Femmes ordinaires extraordinaires" festival, taking place from September 12 to 20, 2026. Olga Brown, known as Miss Lala; Credits: ©Richard Bourrely
