UNICEF France, Samusocial de Paris and the Solipam network are pleased to organize a symposium on the theme “Perinatal health and housing instability: toward comprehensive, tailored care for pregnant women, mothers and newborns experiencing homelessness.”
In recent years, several studies have highlighted the deterioration of perinatal health indicators in France, along with the significant social and regional inequalities underlying them. The situation of pregnant women, mothers and newborns experiencing homelessness, which remains largely overlooked, is particularly concerning. The REPERES study, led by the Observatoire du Samusocial de Paris and the Réseau Solipam, provides unprecedented insight into the consequences of housing insecurity for the physical and mental health of mothers and their children. As the Government has begun overhauling its perinatal policy, these findings offer an opportunity to better address the needs of this population in public policy. UNICEF France, Samusocial de Paris and the Réseau Solipam, with the support of the Ville de Paris, are organizing a dedicated discussion on these issues to bring together perspectives from research, frontline practitioners and institutions, and to identify concrete courses of action for improving care for pregnant women, mothers and newborns experiencing homelessness. This half-day event will feature two round-table discussions: - The first will focus on the presentation of the REPERES study by Samusocial de Paris and the Solipam network - The second will explore the coordination between policies to combat homelessness and those concerning the first 1,000 days of life. The detailed program will be announced soon.
