À propos

On Tuesday, September 15, from 3pm to 4pm, attend an exceptional literary meeting between Audrey Pleynet, a French science-fiction author, and You Yeong-Gwang, a South Korean author, centered on writing and speculative literature. Between France and South Korea, the two authors will share their perspectives on literary creation, fiction, and the way it questions our relationship to the world, to others, and to ourselves. A free event, registration required.

The Université Ouverte is hosting an exceptional literary meeting between two contemporary voices of speculative fiction: Audrey Pleynet, a French science-fiction author, and You Yeong-Gwang, a South Korean author translated and published in France. Two worlds and two literary cultures come together for a conversation about writing, the imagination, and how fiction allows us to question our relationship to the world, to others, and to ourselves. Notably awarded the 2023 Prix Utopiales for Rossignol, Audrey Pleynet writes humanist science fiction exploring themes such as identity, transmission, and the transformations of our societies. You Yeong-Gwang became internationally known with Le Magasin qui n'ouvre que les jours de pluie, a fantasy novel published in France in 2025, in which a mysterious shop offers its visitors the chance to trade their misfortunes for the promise of a different fate. This meeting will be an opportunity to compare their perspectives on literary creation in France and South Korea, as well as on the role of the imagination in expressing our aspirations, our worries, and our quest for happiness. For this occasion, we are also running a contest to win one of the authors' books that we've received! Feel free to enter and try to win Rossignol by Audrey Pleynet or Le Magasin qui n'ouvre que les jours de pluie by You Young-Kwang.
