Trace the history of an iconic Paris building, from its creation in 1784.
THE EXHIBITION The exhibition “Beaujon: From La Folie* to the ZAC*” traces the history of an iconic Paris building from its creation in 1784. It documents its transformations, from the Folie-Beaujon to the present-day Zone d'Aménagement Concerté, inviting visitors to discover the many lives of this historic site in the 8th arrondissement. The exhibition will take you back to 1784 before bringing you forward to the present day through its various incarnations, including a hospice, hospital, police prefecture, and more. A witness to Parisian history, the Hôtel Beaujon also experienced the neighborhood's many changes, as well as major historical events such as the assassination of Paul Doumer and May 1968. The exhibition recounts each of these events, which have shaped the history of the Hôtel Beaujon over its 242-year existence, through period photographs and articles held exclusively at the center. *FOLIE: a country retreat or reception house built from the 14th century onward—and especially during the 19th century—by the aristocracy or wealthy bourgeoisie on the outskirts of cities. In this case, the Folie Beaujon. *ZAC: zone d'aménagement concerté (designated development zone). GIANT CLUEDO Who killed President Paul Doumer? It is 1932, and someone has assassinated the President of the Republic. But who committed the crime? Part Giant Cluedo, part escape game, solve the case by gathering clues scattered throughout the Hôtel Beaujon, listening to crucial witness statements, and solving puzzles that will lead you to the murderer.
