Growth, Green Growth, Degrowth
Economic growth is supposed to enable full employment and provide resources to finance the social model. But it is also considered the main cause of degradation in living conditions on Earth. Since its acceleration, seven of the nine identified planetary boundaries have been exceeded. One session will be devoted to defining growth. How and why calculate a growth rate, what are the limitations of the exercise? A second session will present the response proposed by economists: decarbonizing the economy. Is this realistic and at what cost? A third session will address abandoning the growth objective: how to organize a "degrowth" economy that can meet essential needs? -September 22 Jean-Paul Milot, former secretary general of the public accounting standards council, Growth? -September 29 Paul Malliet, research officer, OFCE, Green Growth? -October 6 Gabriel Malek, president of AlterKapitae, associate researcher at Collège des Bernardins, Degrowth?
