After Claire Denis, Mathieu Amalric and Alice Diop, Christophe Honoré gives his inaugural lecture as holder of the Cinema Chair of the House of Arts & Creation of Sciences Po for the 2026-2027 academic year.

So much so that when their coffins are lifted, the load seems light to those carrying it, unusually light as if it were half a man, a quarter for the greatest of them, which remained there and was still to be buried. » Christophe Honoré, The Book for Children, Éditions de l'Olivier, 2005 The House of Arts & Creation is honored to welcome artist Christophe Honoré as holder of the Cinema Chair in 2026-2027. During this inaugural lecture (followed by an exchange with the audience), he will open an exceptional cycle dedicated to the question of the author in cinema and, more broadly, in narrative and scenic arts. A filmmaker, but also a writer, playwright and director among the most prolific of his generation, Christophe Honoré will question the figure of the author based on his own practice, his artistic history and his long-standing collaborations. This inaugural meeting will lay the groundwork for teaching entitled " Experimenting with the place of the author/authoress " , during which students will be invited to explore the notion of author through writing, artistic direction and the creation of a very short video. Starting from common materials, they will experiment with the boundaries between individual intention, collective creation and the contribution of performers. The meeting will be co-hosted by Xavier Lardoux, teacher at Sciences Po, now heading the National Higher School of Cinema La CinéFabrique and former director of the CNC, alongside a student, before concluding with a time for exchanges with the audience.
