The Institut du monde arabe welcomes Karim Amellal for a discussion about his book La part algérienne de la France - Contribution au récit national. A fresh look at the shared history of Algeria and France.
Through a historical, political, and personal investigation, Karim Amellal examines perceptions of Algeria in France and the misconceptions that fuel public debate around immigration, identity, memory, and Franco-Algerian relations. He explores how this history is passed down and transformed, from family memories to the collective imagination. The event will provide an opportunity to speak with the author about this “Algerian part” of France and the often complex ties that continue to develop between the two societies.
