Art workshops open to everyone to explore the connections between art, culture, and disability as part of the 2026 Accessibility Fortnight. Come one, come all!
Art workshops bringing art, culture, and disability closer together Disability is still too often synonymous with social exclusion. Yet everyone has a desire within them to create, express themselves, and feel that they belong. This belief drives the association Mode et Handicap ! through its art and cultural workshops, designed to welcome everyone, including people with social or physical disabilities, with kindness and at their own pace. These workshops extend the association's broader commitment to designing adaptive clothing for people with disabilities — young people, adults, and children — combining ergonomics, functionality, and aesthetics. Beyond clothing, this is a genuine journey toward independence, self-confidence, and inclusion, built one step at a time. These workshops provide personalized support attentive to each person's needs, vulnerabilities, and strengths. Three workshops are on the program: 🎨 Art therapy through painting An accessible and welcoming workshop open to everyone. A space to pause, create, and tell your story. Through drawing, painting, collage, modeling, or engraving, each participant progresses at their own pace, with gentle guidance, to rebuild confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging. The creations are showcased in exhibitions, portfolios, and photographs — all sources of shared pride. 🖌️ Fabric painting An inclusive activity that can easily be adapted to each person's level and pace. Open to all ages, this activity invites everyone to let their imagination run free. Handprints for younger participants, more detailed drawings for others: everyone finds their own way to express themselves on fabric. A collaborative mural, customized cushions, personalized bags — practical projects that provide structure, a motivating goal, and pride to share. A creative experience that also gives careful attention to the final step, the one that makes all the difference: setting the paint so that every work can withstand time, washing, and everyday life. 🧵 String art and visual arts A welcoming workshop designed to adapt to each participant. A fun, detailed activity in which colorful threads stretched around nails gradually form a pattern chosen by each participant. An exercise in precision that encourages concentration, develops patience, and celebrates the pride of completing something by hand. Each of these workshops shares the same purpose: to make art a welcoming space, a tool for inclusion, and a way to feel seen, heard, and valued. Developing independence, strengthening self-esteem, and building connections — that is what these creative sessions offer every participant
