Come along if you like… Alex G, Elliott Smith, DIIV
SHALLOWATER (10:00 p.m.) (Indie shoegaze - Texas, US) Born where the Dust Bowl never disappeared, the West Texas trio known as Shallowater – Blake Skipper (guitar/vocals), Tristan Kelly (bass) and Ryan Faulkenberry (drums) – blends elements of slowcore, post-hardcore, country and Americana in a way that defies categorization. Quickly emerging as a band to watch on the alt-country/slowcore scene, the “raw West Texas dirtgaze” – as the powerhouse trio describes it – has established the band as an evocative and distinctive force among today’s genre-blending alternative acts. The band released its second album, God's Gonna Give You a Million Dollars, in September 2025, drawing praise from Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Alt Press, Beats per Minute, Fantano and many others. Produced by Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday, Indigo de Souza), the album moves between country and slowcore, combining heavy, distorted instrumentals with softer, dynamic passages, and even features fellow West Texas musician Hayden Pedigo. Though still a relatively new band, the trio has already landed major opportunities, including performing on the main stage at Austin City Limits in 2025, and is preparing for its second major festival, End of the Road, in September 2026. https://shallowater.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okgyyIm8eR4 MIDSCALE (9:00 p.m.) (Shoegaze - Paris, FR) Drawn to distorted melodies and soaring arpeggios, massive walls of sound and noisy dissonance, Midscale is a 1990s rock/shoegaze quartet formed in Paris in 2021. Gabrielle (bass), Sébastien (drums), Eliott (guitar/backing vocals) and Yohann (vocals/guitar) met through their shared passion for combining reverb and fuzz, initially paying tribute to the genre’s icons before venturing down more adventurous paths. The band’s first release, its self-titled 2022 EP, was inspired by cult names such as Slowdive and DIIV. A few months later, the release of the single Dean signaled a darker, sharper turn, later confirmed onstage by new material. Every performance gives the four musicians an opportunity to amplify sound and emotion to the fullest. Since its beginnings, the band has shared the bill with acts such as Pale Blue Eyes, PARK, Cosmopaark, Whitelands, and Explosions in the Sky at the Bataclan. 2024 marked the arrival of their debut album: broadening its range of moods and influences, Movements sees Midscale’s identity come into its own.
