Meet Nerea Dezac, author of the play "Chienne noire", published by Éditions Quartett
In the vastness of a boreal forest, a Black woman watches over an isolated house, a child, and an animal. Her life fades into the repetition of daily tasks: feeding, cleaning, starting over. Trapped in an unchanging schedule, she endures the animal’s incessant noise and the whims of Lou, a little girl who is by turns cruel, demanding, and humiliating. Within this exhausting routine, every detail becomes crucial: with almost obsessive attention, she tries to hold on and preserve a fragile balance against the pressure shaping each of her days. Nerea Dezac is a Franco-Québécois playwright. After discovering the stage through opera, she moved to France in 2021 to study playwriting and joined ENSATT in 2023. At the same time, she conducts research on racialized women in Québec theatre. Chienne noire is her first play, published by Éditions Quartett.
