À propos

This talk will be an opportunity to discuss “Deux Coréennes” by Seh-lynn Chai, co-written with North Korean refugee Jihyun Park. The book explores the invisible border separating two societies united by a shared language and culture but divided by history.

Internationally acclaimed for the humanistic power of her writing, South Korean author Seh-lynn Chai explores the complex realities of the Korean Peninsula and the fate of a divided people. Her restrained, direct writing gives full weight to the human realities behind geopolitical issues. Selected for France’s Bibliothèque Orange list in 2020 and the Sejong Books list in Korea in 2022, the book has been translated into seven languages and widely covered by international media outlets such as CNN, The Wall Street Journal and France 24. It is now considered a major account of contemporary Korea. The daughter of a South Korean diplomat, Seh-lynn Chai grew up in several French-speaking countries, including Cameroun and Tunisie. A former banker turned writer, she is now a Research Fellow at Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid and regularly speaks on geopolitical and literary issues related to the Korean Peninsula.
