À propos

As part of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, the Centre Culturel Coréen presents a special evening with Ak Dan Gwang Chil (ADG7).

Acclaimed on international stages, ADG7 has established itself as one of the most distinctive groups on the contemporary Korean music scene. The New York Times hailed it as “one of the most inventive and dazzling shows,” while its appearance on NPR Music’s renowned Tiny Desk Concert, an American live concert series followed around the world, introduced international audiences to the power and energy of its stage performances. Drawing on traditional Korean music and reinventing it with a resolutely contemporary energy, the group continues to expand its global reach. This autumn, ADG7 will continue its European tour, with stops including the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden and France. French audiences will have the opportunity to experience its vibrant musical world and infectious energy live on stage. Founded in 2015, this ensemble of eight musicians reimagines traditional Korean music by combining traditional instruments with electronic sounds. Inspired by folk songs ( minyo ) and shamanic ritual music ( gut ) from present-day Hwanghae Province in North Korea, the group creates a distinctive musical world where heritage meets contemporary creativity. Among the signature pieces in its repertoire, the concert will notably showcase Yeongjeonggeori , a work that blends the timbres of several shamanic voices to create an atmosphere that is both mystical and powerful. Audiences will also discover Hi Hi , which evokes the repetition of daily life through hypnotic melodic patterns, as well as Mujin (No End, No Limit) , a work celebrating the endless journey of existence and conveying a message of hope in the face of life’s challenges. Honored in Korea with the Minister of Culture Award in 2021 and a Presidential Citation in 2023, ADG7 has also made its mark internationally. After attracting attention at WOMEX (World Music Expo) and globalFEST in 2019, the ensemble has earned praise from major international media outlets such as the New York Times and NPR Music , which recognize its powerful ability to bring tradition and modernity into dialogue. Doors will open at 7 p.m., welcoming the audience into a friendly atmosphere before this standing-room concert, designed as a festive and immersive experience. This concert is organized as part of Touring K-Arts with the support of the Ministère de la Culture, des Sports et du Tourisme.
