From its construction in the heart of the Marais to its latest renovation, come explore the eventful history of the Hôtel Salé, between courtyard and garden—one of Paris’s most iconic private mansions.
Built in the late 17th century for Pierre Aubert de Fontenay, a prominent financier, the Hôtel Salé successively housed an embassy, the École Centrale, and a circus before becoming the musée national Picasso-Paris. Accompanied by a guide, discover the splendor of the grand staircase and the Baroque décor of the Jupiter Salon, as well as the openings and visual connections created by Roland Simounet, the architect who took on the challenge of transforming the private mansion into a museum. Free guided tours on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (duration: 1 hour). Register on site 30 minutes before the tour begins.
