An exhibition by Barbara Berthelot, Tamar Doliashvili and Shona Ridard, master’s students in Languages and Societies – The Americas track
Tupac, Ice Cube, Eminem… we all know these big names in US rap. But behind these legends, where are the women who broke new ground? To shine a light on the women too often overlooked in this world, students from the first year of the Languages and Societies master’s program – The Americas track have chosen to dedicate an exhibition to them. Come and discover 11 North American women rappers who have left their mark on the scene, each with her own style, story and powerful words. Each poster features a biography, memorable quotes and a glimpse of what makes the artist unique. A comparative infographic will also show how rap remains a field where inequalities between men and women persist… yet where these artists continue to make their mark. More than a university project, Queen Energy is above all about celebrating these powerful, inspiring women who are essential to the history of rap.
