The statues from the Games depict ten women who lived in different eras. Each made her mark on her time. Some have been forgotten or remain little known, such as Jeanne Barret; others are better known because they resonate with certain people or groups, such as Paulette Nardal; and others seem very familiar to us because they shaped our era, such as Simone Veil. What did these women accomplish? What causes did they fight for, and what commitments did they make? What was the context in which they lived? What legacy did they leave us?
