Lecture: This Was the Suburbs in 1970: A World Undergoing Profound Change. In Paris and its suburbs alike, the 1970s were marked by three major upheavals: the overhaul of local political institutions, the end of the golden age of industrial cities, and the beginning of the decline of Red Paris and the Red Belt. During this period, the final pages in the history of Grand Paris were being written just as the “suburban crisis” began making headlines. BOOKINGS OPEN ON AUGUST 23, 2026
