Rediscover the restored Ark of the Covenant at Église Saint-Roch!

The Ark of the Covenant at Église Saint-Roch is a rare piece of furniture whose overall form draws inspiration from the furnishings of the Temple of Jerusalem, as described in the Old Testament. Designed by architect Charles Lelong around 1840, it underwent a complete restoration between March and July 2026 to showcase the beauty of its Egyptian Revival decoration. Dedicated to the Passion of Christ, its design strikingly links the suffering of the people of Israel with that of Jesus, aiming to show how the Old Testament foreshadows the New Testament. Poorly restored over the years and vandalized shortly before its restoration, it is a fine example of "heritage at risk." The ticketing link will be activated during the first half of September.
