In 2025, Roger Fajnzylberg published his father Alter Fajnzylberg’s notebooks with Seuil. Written in Polish in the aftermath of the war, they recount his experience as a member of the Sonderkommando at Auschwitz-Birkenau. The book achieved remarkable popular and critical success for a work of history. Roger Fajnzylberg and Alban Perrin traveled across France to present it to a wide range of audiences. One year later, the book was released in paperback and adapted into a graphic novel. This event will explore Alter’s story in detail, as well as the extraordinary publishing journey of his notebooks, which lay hidden in a shoebox for nearly 80 years.
