As part of the European Heritage Days, the musée Bourdelle invites visitors to discover CONTREPOINT, an exhibition by artist Anthony Guerrée that brings together design and sculpture, on display until September 27.
Throughout the weekend, family workshops are being offered in connection with the designer’s creations displayed throughout the museum. Drawing inspiration from the artist’s creative processes, children and adults can experiment with mixed clay or create paper screens. Tours explore Antoine Bourdelle’s relationship with materials in his studio and how Anthony Guerrée is reinterpreting these exceptional techniques today. Some workshops and tours will feature a special appearance by the designer. Along the way, students from the école du Louvre will help visitors discover the works through guided discussions. On Sunday, music takes center stage beneath the arcades. Beethoven’s Serenade, performed by the company Les Folies du temps, offers a timeless encounter between sculpture and music, echoing Bourdelle’s admiration for Beethoven. Tours and workshops related to Anthony Guerrée’s Contrepoint Weaving clay: imprints and materials Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. A sensory introduction to clay, exploring basic techniques (coils and balls) and patterns. Inspired by designer Anthony Guerrée’s “blended forms,” children handle different colors of clay to create a textured tile. They experiment with making imprints using everyday objects, creating a tactile dialogue. Audience: Families with children aged 1 to 3 Duration: 1 hour Silhouettes in the light: drawing in space Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. After observing the dialogue between Bourdelle’s plaster casts and designer Anthony Guerrée’s creations, families explore the concepts of solid forms, empty space and transparency. Using tracing paper, silhouettes inspired by the sculptures and overlapping layers, children and adults create a miniature screen or candle holder that plays with light, inspired by the designer’s stained-glass works. Audience: Families with children aged 4 and older Duration: 2 hours Colorful paper screen Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. After discovering designer Anthony Guerrée’s creations, children and adults make a miniature paper screen composed of colorful shapes, inspired by the designer’s stained-glass works. Audience: Families with children aged 7 and older Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes Mixed clays Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. In dialogue with the museum’s sculptures and designer Anthony Guerrée’s pieces, participants draw inspiration from Bourdelle’s works, kneading and blending clays of different colors before shaping a figure emerging from the material. Designer Anthony Guerrée will be present at the beginning of the workshop. Audience: Families with children aged 7 and older Duration: 2 hours Guided tour - Artist’s studio: materials and craftsmanship Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. What skills are practiced in the studio? What was Antoine Bourdelle’s creative process? Who worked alongside him? During the European Heritage Days, discover how a painter and sculptor’s studio operated in the early 20th century. Designer Anthony Guerrée’s installation in the galleries also provides an opportunity to explore the studio’s materials and techniques, in a space where art and craftsmanship come together. Designer Anthony Guerrée will be present at the beginning of the tour.
