At the first Salon de l’extra-terrestre, around twenty artists present their work, demystifying extraterrestrial space and the illusions associated with it.
As space activities make a major return to the media spotlight, the Observatoire de l’Espace, the cultural laboratory of CNES (the French space agency), invites twenty-two artists to explore the relationship between human societies and extraterrestrial space. Open to everyone, this exhibition features works that examine and deconstruct the myths and imagery of space exploration, including the figure of the hero, otherness, and the spiritual significance attributed to space. Drawn from the Observatoire de l'Espace’s contemporary art collection and collaborations with artists, these sculptures, paintings, videos, installations, and photographs move beyond conventional representations of space to offer a more nuanced view of space exploration and place it within a collective, everyday experience. Featuring artists Pat Andrea, Mona Cara, Grégory Chatonsky, Raphaël Dallaporta, Bertrand Dezoteux, Benoît Géhanne, Paul Gibert, Stephan Goldrajch, Michel Gouéry, Annabelle Guetatra, Cédric Hoareau, Gaspard Maîtrepierre, Vincent Odon, Aurélie Pagès, Loïc Pantaly, Élise Parré, Charles-Henry de Pimodan, Olivain Porry, Chloé Silbano, Mary Sue, Jeanne Susplugas, Virginie Yassef.
